Sometimes, you just need to pack a bag, switch off your phone, and hit the road (that’s exactly what I did). Since I`m living in Manchester, I didn`t have to book flight schedules to reach the UK`s most beautiful regions: Wales. So, after a week of city noise and tight schedules, a Wales road trip felt like a reset button I needed.

I didn`t have a complicated journey, just a few spots pinned on my mind, a cozy stay booked, and an urge to embrace quiet moments. Honestly speaking, it has become one of my favorite getaways and there`s no better way to recall those moments than by sharing them. And trust me, you`ll want to bookmark some of these tips.

Grab Some Snacks—Time for a Wales Road Trip!

So, come along on my trip to Wales (and don`t forget the snacks):

What I Took for My Wales Trip

Packing for Wales is like packing for three different seasons (rain, cool evenings and sunny hikes). I kept it light but versatile and layers were necessary. I took my carry-on from Away Travel as I want something that holds space for my gear and has a built-in charger. I packed a pair of waterproof boots, a hoodie, joggers, jeans, and a couple of tees (and snacks too).

My Drive from Manchester to Wales

Frankly speaking, I didn`t want to deal with last-minute train or flight delays, so I booked a ride through Cabubble. It made my Wales road trip so much relaxing without worrying about directions or service stations. The journey took around 3 hours, with a few stops along the way. However, by the time I crossed the border, everything felt quieter—it was like the fresh air I`d breathed in a while.

My Comfortable Stay in Wales

After traveling, my body desperately needed a 10-hour sleep in a comfortable haven—and John Fowler Holidays was the perfect find. I stayed at one of their cabins located in the Welsh countryside. I didn`t have to go through a complicated process to check in, and my cabin was big enough to relax. It was installed near some of the most beautiful spots and it was literally good for me (and my Wales road trip).

In Wales, I Roamed Through

Since I had just three days, I took a bit of help from John Fowler Holidays. I explored places like Tenby, where I wandered through its narrow streets and sat on the beach. The next day, I admired the spectacular views of Snowdonia National Park, and then on the last day, I headed to the Brecon Beacons, where I captured the beauty of the rolling hills and wide skies.

Catch You Later, Wales!

The Wales road trip felt like something I didn`t even know I needed. I booked a cab through Cabubble for the return journey to head back to Manchester. The ride literally gave me a chance to enjoy the scenery before heading back to my boring routine—and of course, except weekends. As I went home, I scrolled through pictures and decided to share my experience (the one you`re reading right now).

What Went Wrong on My Wales Road Trip

I`ll be honest with you that not everything went perfectly. When I went hiking, I realized I forgot my portable charger and my phone died halfway, which means no photos, just vibes. And that was the only blunder, I showed up at the wrong restaurant and only realized it after sitting down. But honestly speaking, that restaurant was better than the original one that taught me not all wrong turns are bad.

What Welsh Culture Taught Me

For me, the Wales road trip isn`t just about stunning places; it has a soul of its own, which is ready to embrace everyone. The people I met were kind, warm, and yes, proudly Welsh. You know, one of my biggest takeaways was their pace of life, which was slower and it should be in Manchester too. People chat, take their time with meals and respect their surroundings. I brought that vibe with me to Manchester—and it’s one of the best keepsakes I’ve ever taken home.
